The Mayor of Limassol Announces Plans for New Parking Spaces in Limassol City Centre

A welcome initiative supported by The Prosperity Group with plans to redevelop the Limassol Old-town

Limassol, Cyprus -16th October 2019, the Prosperity Group announces that a positive solution has been reached to increase the number of parking spaces within the Limassol city centre. This is according to a decision made by the Mayor of Limassol at the end of September. The public parking space located on Andrea Themistokleous street, will be closed-off and re-opened as a park and pay facility, creating approximately 180 additional parking spaces with three entrance and exit points. The Mayor designated the Limassol multi-storey parking as the official parking place for employees of various businesses located in the city centre, allowing this space to be solely dedicated to visitors of the old-town.

The Prosperity Group took the initiative to open discussions and promote solutions to the pressing parking issue as part of the group’s plans to revamp the old town centre and to ensure that sufficient parking spaces are available, especially ahead of next years’ opening of the Limassol AGORA. Panos Alexandrou, the founder and CEO of the Prosperity Group stated, ‘Cyprus is growing fast and as part of this growth, we are working closely with the municipality to find the right solutions to revamp the city and establish the old-town as the new vibrant centre of Limassol’s success story. The Mayor’s decision to allocate this parking to consumers came as a very welcome solution, not only for visitors of the AGORA, but also for all shoppers and visitors to the old-town.’ The Prosperity group’s long term initiative for redevelopment and gentrification of the city of Limassol not only includes the opening of Agora, a shopping and entertainment destination located in the old Limassols market premises, where modernity will blend with more than 100 years of history – but also the upgrade of the Ayios Nikolaos roundabout with a new spectacular fountain system. The group also recently purchased one of the central buildings in Anexartisias street, previously known as the E&S Mall, as one more of their high-profile projects to revive the old city. The group plans to transform the property into an internationally recognised boutique premises ‘Brown hotel.’

The Prosperity Group’s mission is to attract crowds of visitors to the old-town, to further promote the development of the economy and to encourage foreign interest in Limassol, and the country as a whole.
